Jim Barrett is the President and founder of Road Scholar Transport. As a former driver himself, he has worked in essentially every aspect of the transportation business. Jim realized the power the American dream over 35 years ago when he began washing trucks after school at the age of 16. Jim worked his way through college and obtained a position in sales at the same company he had worked for since the age of 16. He worked his way up to VP of sales before finally leaving that company to start Road Scholar in 1988.

Jim and his wife Debra started Road Scholar in 1988. They leased a used tractor-trailer and Jim served as the sole driver for the company while Debra acted as dispatcher. Today, 22 years after Road Scholar hauled its first piece freight, Debra and Jim employ approximately 95 drivers out of 4 different terminals, own 100 tractors, 350 trailers and additionally employ 10 owner operators.

Jim and Debra currently reside in the Scranton area and are the proud parents of four children and three grandchildren.
