Thursday, February 10th, 2011

A man who is charged with stealing over 41,000 pounds of ground hamburger meat, valued at over $95,000 last week is still on the run.

According to the Dothan Eagle, police received a call from Martin Farms in Geneva, AL, stating that a tractor trailer had been parked on their property for a long duration.

After investigation, police discovered that the truck was traveling from LA transporting 22 pallets of meat.  When opened, the trailer was empty.

Darrell Russell is accused of “first-degree receiving stolen property” and has a warrant out for his arrest, the Dothan Eagle notes.

A portion of the meat, 14 pallets, has been discovered at a local grocery store who police believe had no involvement in the criminal act, raising the question, “How can you be sure that the freight you are receiving is not a product of stolen activity?”  Easy, you choose a secure carrier with a good reputation behind them.  Just check out what these customers had to say about Road Scholar Transport at http://www.roadscholar.com/freighthaulingtestimonials.php.
