Billions of Miles Driven Every Year, DOT Announces

Wednesday, March 23rd, 2011

Trucking plays a large role in the U.S. economy, with companies such as Road Scholar Transport delivering freight awareness campaign24/7.  But just how many miles do trucks actually travel each year?

According to the Department of Transportation (DOT), not thousands, not millions, but 139.3 billion miles are traveled by Class 8 trucks alone each year!

Class 8 trucks are those trucks weighing 33,000 pounds and above, in other words, tractor trailers.

With 139.3 billion miles being driven, there are over 3.5 million drivers across the nation delivering your freight.

And out of the 4 million miles of roads and streets that the DOT notes the United States contains, Road Scholar will be traveling 10 million miles to spread awareness via its 10 Million Miles to a Cure Awareness Campaign.  That’s like traveling every single road/street in the whole United States two and a half times!

Don’t Know Which Way to Turn? Try the New Trucker Hotline

Wednesday, October 13th, 2010

We have all realized by now that several industries were hit hard by the economy, the trucking industry being one of them.  With no where to turn, logistics and trucking companies are considering bankruptcy to be the only way out…until now.

According to einnews.com, Ahern and Associates, “North America’s leading trucking and management consulting firm,” has set up a hotline for logistics and trucking companies to call in for help.

The hotline will offer suggestions such as selling the company (in which case Ahern and Associates have already helped 300 companies to do) or provide a solution to rebuild the company and put them in the green again, the site notes.

Ahern and Associates is offering a free one hour consultation from auditors of “ex-presidents and CEO’s of trucking and logistics companies” who can offer their experience and provide solutions to problems such as “cash flow management, receivable financing, too many empty miles, low revenue per mile, violations of bank covenants, 940 and 941 tax liabilities, and delinquent equipment payments” (http://www.einnews.com/pr-news/183855-ahern-and-associates-launches-new-trucking-company-crisis-hotline).

If you are not one of those fortunate companies like Road Scholar Transport, who fought through the economy, making an average per year of $18 million in receipts, then you can call the hotline between the hours of 8am-4pm Mon.-Fri. at 602-242-1030 ext. 201.

Premature Deaths Emerging As a Result of Particulate Pollution

Thursday, September 2nd, 2010

Stepping out to breathe in the fresh air is not exactly what’s happening throughout the United States.  In fact, it can cost you your life.

The California Air Resources Board (CARB) stated that recent studies show individuals are dying a premature death caused by particle pollution nationwide (http://www.truckinginfo.com/news/news-detail.asp?news_id=71543).

According to truckinginfo.com, between 7,300 and 11,000 premature deaths caused by fine particulate pollution occur each year in California, a state that is less industrial than others.

The site notes that fine particulates are emitted from numerous sources, “the exhaust of diesel engines” being one of them.

Efforts to reduce this pollution are being taken by people in the trucking industry.  Road Scholar Transport is one of them, bringing in 12 tractors within the next few months which will give off way less diesel particulate than the 2004 engines, at a ratio of 1:42!

Road Scholar Transport is concerned with the health of Americans, which is why we have created the 10 Million Miles to a Cure Awareness Campaign.  Through this initiative, Road Scholar hopes to spread awareness of the many diseases/conditions battling the lives of millions today and help move one step closer to a cure.

Nine Lives May Be the Case with Cats, but CT Scans Are Doing Just the Opposite for Humans

Friday, August 27th, 2010

Not getting a CT Scan (otherwise known as a CAT Scan) may actually save your life.

In an article posted on naturalnews.com, evidence found that every year an estimated 14,000 Americans are dying from the after effects of a CAT Scan.  That’s right, the very test meant to help discover a problem may actually be the source of it.

So what would you think if the FDA knew about these effects for a while but chose not to make the public aware?

That’s exactly what happened.  According to Natural News’ site, scientists have brought forth their information to the FDA but the FDA chose to hide it, even letting one of their employees go for refusing to keep quiet about it.

As the site notes, the information gathered through research about CT Scans’ side effects erupted after the FDA quickly sought to approve General Electric (GE)’s request to have CT Scans be used for colon cancer testing.  Scientists argued that the effects of this test may have more downfalls due to the radiation emitted from the test (causing cancer in some) rather than benefits.

Road Scholar Transport is in favor of promoting a healthy lifestyle, which is why we have the 10 Million Miles to a Cure Awareness Campaign, dedicated to making people aware nationwide of the many diseases affecting lives today…one mile at a time.

Through our rolling billboards, and of course the help of our customers, we are spreading awareness for several affiliations ranging from cancer foundations to the Flight 93 Memorial Fund.
