The public will be given additional time to voice their opinions regarding the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA)’s Hours of Service (HOS) proposal, extending the comment period deadline from February 28th to March 4th.
The reason for this extension, according to truckinginfo.com, is to allow the FMCSA time to review three additional documents they had submitted to the public document at the American Trucking Associations (ATA)’s request, as well as “clerical corrections to both the preamble and the regulatory text of its notice of proposed rulemaking on HOS requirements.”

data using the formula in the HOS Regulatory Evaluation to link the hours
worked in the previous week to fatigue the following week.
Tomorrow, February 17th, the FMCSA will hold a public listening session on changes to the HOS proposal in Arlington, VA at the Crowne Plaza Washington National Airport Hotel. Those unable to attend are able to watch a live webcast on the FMCSA’s website (www.fmcsa.dot.gov).
