Easter Raffle Benefitting Sick Children Kicks Off, Get Your Tickets Now

Wednesday, April 6th, 2011

Last year, Marybeth Barrett, daughter of Jim Barrett (owner of Road Scholar Transport) and her husband Mike, conducted their annual Christmas fundraiser to help raise money to buy presents for those children who have been diagnosed with serious illnesses.

Holding not one, but two raffles, Marybeth and Mike were able to raise over $1300.

Working with Cole’s Foundation, they were provided families in need of assistance for the holiday season…families who spent every dime they had on their child’s medical bills and were not able to afford Christmas presents.

This year, Marybeth and Mike hope to raise even more money, and thus, provide more children with presents by having the fundraiser last year round.

Just in time for Easter, Road Scholar Transport will be helping sell raffle tickets for the next fundraiser event.

Popular Chocolate Company Recalls Easter Egg Favorites

Wednesday, March 30th, 2011

Every year thousands of people look forward to chocolate eggs, sold around Easter for a limited time.  From caramel to peanut butter to milk chocolate centers, several varieties of this Easter treat become available for whatever your taste buds desire.

Lindt chocolate eggs

Lindt chocolates is one such company that has become popular for their chocolate creations, especially around the holidays.  But why is it so hard to find a Lindt chocolate egg lately?

Don’t worry, it’s not because the Easter bunny hid them, but because the company has issued a recall on its 16 g milk egg products, for fear that they may contain peanut butter.

For some, a little peanut butter makes the egg even better, but for people with peanut allergies, it can be a traumatic event.  Therefore, Lindt is undergoing tests on whether the chocolate is safe from peanuts, temporarily recalling the following products (http://www.nzherald.co.nz/food/news/article.cfm?c_id=206&objectid=10716031):

-Lindt Lindor Milk Egg Bag 160g

-Lindt Easter Assorted Egg Tube 160g

-Lindt Milk Egg Easter Selection Bag 170g

-Lindt Gold Bunny & Friends Tin Tube 180g

-Lindt Lindor Assorted Egg Tube 270g

-Lindt Lindor Milk Egg Tube 270g

-Lindt Gold Bunny & Friends Cube 250g

-Lindt Lindor Maitre’s Easter Egg Collection 125g

-Lindt Lindor Milk Egg in Cardboard Egg Shaped Box 100g.

Consumers who purchased these eggs are allowed to return them to their retailer for a refund, the site notes.

Don’t worry though, Lindt’s chocolate eggs will be back on the shelves soon, joining Lindt’s other Easter favorites, such as their chocolate bunnies and chicks, bundle of carrots, and spring truffles.
