With fuel prices skyrocketing, consumers are looking for any little way to cut back on fuel prices.
Recently, we told you about BMI Corp’s device that attaches to the undercarriage and rear top of the trailer that would cut fuel usage, and now, we are giving you yet another product that might help.

Achates Power, founded in 2004, proposed the creation of a new engine that would save on two important matters, both which are intermingled: fuel and cost.
The new prototype will improve fuel mileage on trucks (which currently average 5-6 miles per gallon), which in return lowers the cost of having to purchase fuel.
According to Archates Power’s CEO David Johnson, the new engine will cut fuel usage by 10 to 15%! The best part is, this efficient engine is cheaper to make than the current ones.
As greentechmedia.com notes, Archates Power’s engine “will cost 10 percent to 15 percent less than a conventional engine to manufacture.” Why is this? As the company explains, the engine would be less expensive because it would require fewer components.
Instead of having an engine in which each piston has its own cylinder, the new engine would contain “two cylinders in the same cylinder,” which would “charge toward each other and serve as the de facto cylinder head for the other,” thus removing the need for cylinder heads (http://www.greentechmedia.com/articles/read/an-engine-that-costs-less-and-gets-better-mileage/).
Although this engine may help with the current fuel crisis, consumers will have to wait four to five more years for it to be available for purchase.
